2020 : an art odyssey
In 2001, Rotterdam Cultural Capital of Europe I copropriated (copy – appropriate) the 100 most important European artworks of the 20th century by cutting lino according to the “Van LoonColorcircle”.
Van Loon Colorcircle
In honor to the great works of the 20th century. I copropriated the composition and the colors of the 100 most important European artworks of the 20th century. The Van LoonColorcircle is a complete new approach in art history by translating colors into simple three primary lines /, \ and |.
The Series
Each copropriated artwork I printed 20 items and I sold / exhibited the artworks during 50 weeks 24/7 at the streets of Rotterdam. As finale work I made “2001 – The battle Van Loon vs Institutionalized Art” in which I combined the most important ingredients of the last 100 year of art:
