This work from Lucian Freud (a man), grandson from Sigmund Freud, shows us the pshyche of a woman in a oppressed composition. He achieve to express those emotion by painting, the nude-model lying on the bed, on an intuitive expressive pastel way. The work of Lucian Freud changed after the ’50 slowly, by using hog’s bristles instead of martel bristels with which he started to modelling. With those new instruments combined with the merciless observation of the human body he reached a new level. The changed style was adopted with a lot of favourable reviews during the ’70 as a proof of the tradition that the human art of painting in Europese was still a live. For a short time Freud was more famous as a neo-romaniticus then his contemporary Francis Bacon. After a while he good only walk in the schadow of his good friend Francis Bacon.

Dit werk van Lucian Freud (een man), kleinzoon van Sigmund Freud, legt in een beklemmende compositie de psyche van de vrouw bloot, dit doet hij door met expressieve, pasteuze kwaststreken intuïtief het object, het naaktmodel liggend op het bed te schilderen. Het werk van Lucian Freud veranderde na de jaren vijftig langzaam doordat hij zijn martelharen penselen verving door kwasten van varkenshaar en hij hiermee begon te boetseren, wat zijn meedogenloze observatie van het menselijk lichaam op een nieuw plan bracht.
Zijn veranderde stijl werd in de jaren ’70 lovend ontvangen als het bewijs dat de traditie van het schilderkunstig humanisme zich in de Europese kunst bleef voortzetten. Voor even was hij als neo-romaniticus beroemder dan zijn tijdgenoot Francis Bacon, zijn goede vriend in wiens schaduw hij later zou komen te staan. Dit werk is in tijdsvolgorde iets te vroeg gekomen, het 38e werk met datum 26-5-2001 van Günther Förg zal a.s. woensdag voor de kunstliefhebbers te bemachtigen zijn, verder heb ik voor de kopers van dit werk een extra kunstwerk gemaakt. Deze zal aan de kopers per post worden toegestuurd.
